Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
AES is a K-6 school. It offers after-school extracurricular activities to all students. For the purpose of this project, the focus will be on 5th and 6th grade after-school co-ed soccer team. The the co-ed soccer team will be competing in after-school games against schools in the WESD in the same grade levels stated above (5th-6th). Athletes will compete in at least 4 games in the season. In addition, student-athletes will be attending practice at least 3 days a week to work on agility and skills that will enhance their ability to play soccer. In order to develop a competitive team and enhance their skills, athletes need the proper equipment.
In order to enhance agility, students will need agility ladders and cones to work on skills for quick feet and mobility of the ball.
In addition, acacia athletes are in need of new soccer balls that are competition size (size 5), to get a feel for what the real game will be like. With access to more soccer balls, coaches will be able to lead more drills with the athletes to enhance their skill training. Adding target points and goals with nets will also provide the athletes with the ability to practice shooting and defending the goal. Practice will still be made possible without them, however, with the addition, it provides more opportunity for the athletes to have better-aiming practice and scoring ability.
Ultimately, student-athletes currently do not have the equipment to help them develop and improve their soccer skills. With the equipment listed above and more, athletes will have more potential to develop as better soccer athletes. With your help, this could be made possible.
