it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Did you know that owls play a vital role in the city of Los Angeles? YES! The Barn Owl and the Great Horned Owl are both local residents of Los Angeles and part of our city ecosystem!! Being able to conduct an owl pellet investigation labs gives students the hands-on learning experience to understand why these fantastic neighbors are so important to our community..... keeping rodent populations in check without the need for harmful chemicals and pesticides.
Teaching students with owl pellets can help them learn about the environment, anatomy, and ecology.
Pellets are a record of what owls have eaten, and scientists can study them to learn more about the owl and the ecosystems in which they live. When students dissect owl pellets, they can see and identify the tiny bones from that owl's meal, and can learn about the owl's diet and place in the food web.
When our students better understand how vital owls are to our city ecosystem in encourages them to think about how we can best support the survival of owls in our cityscape. Our fully inclusive STEM science program is in need of this resource to deliver the hands-on learning moments that support a lifetime of knowledge and action to support our local ecosystem.
