Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
After last year, these kids are anxious to learn! They need structure, attention, and compassion. In a Title I school, many of these kids need extra support and attention.
Moving from virtual teaching and learning to being back in a "brick-and-mortar" classroom is very exciting, but it comes with its own challenges.
My Project
Dissecting Owl Pellets provides students with a record of what owls have eaten, and the students can further their learning by studying more about the owl and the ecosystems in which they live.
When kids dissect the owl pellets, they can see and identify the tiny bones and other undigested material from that owl's meal and can learn about the owl's diet and place in the food web.
It is an engaging and fascinating hands-on exercise that they will use to understand the larger ecosystem. It builds appreciation and respect for all of earth's creatures.
