My Project
Owl pellets provide a hands-on, engaging way for students to explore food webs, predator-prey relationships, and skeletal structures. By dissecting these pellets, students can analyze real-world ecological interactions, reinforce their understanding of trophic levels, and develop critical thinking and scientific inquiry skills. This hands-on experience makes abstract ecological concepts more tangible and memorable. My goal is to provide my students with an interactive, inquiry-based learning experience that deepens their understanding of ecosystems and animal adaptations. Through this project, students will develop observational and analytical skills, enhance their ability to make scientific conclusions based on evidence, and foster a greater appreciation for wildlife and ecological balance. My students are bright, curious, and eager to learn, despite facing challenges as students in a Title I school with limited access to hands-on science resources. They thrive when given interactive, real-world learning opportunities, and projects like this help bridge the gap between textbook learning and real scientific exploration. Their enthusiasm and perseverance inspire me to seek engaging, high-quality learning experiences that spark their passion for zoology and the natural world.
