Help me give my students an overnight field trip to Montara Light House and Goat Farm. Students and teachers will stay overnight in a Youth Hostel, cooking dinner and breakfast together.

My Students
This class of Special Education Access and Transition students go out into the community every day to get on-the-job training and earn real money at many different community-partner job sites. Our students also explore recreational and artistic activities, such as swimming and pottery or drama class, and further enhance their community-learning experience by taking classes at City College of San Francisco.
Our young adult students are well aware of their role in our society, and want to increase it!
These young men and women strive to be contributing members every day. Whether holding down a part time job or volunteer position, or participating in continuing education classes at City College, our students learn that it takes hard work and dedication to maintain a society that we all want to live in. They also learn to feel proud of their contributions.
My Project
This well-established overnight field trip is ambitious and jam-packed with fun team activities and experiential learning opportunities. Students will use all parts of themselves and then some as we undertake caring for young animals, learning about California history, and cooking our dinner and breakfast together at the youth hostel.
The bonding that occurs every year builds student self-confidence and deepens relationships through cooperative learning experiences, leading to long-term, supportive friendships that extend beyond the school year.
This project will help cover the cost of roundtrip bus transportation. Students will visit Montara Light House and Harley Goat Farm, with an overnight stay at Point Montara Youth Hostel. At the goat farm, students will help care for the newborn kids, even holding and feeding some with bottles. At the lighthouse, students will learn about California maritime history. All this will be capped with the team effort of cooking dinner and breakfast together at Point Montara Youth Hostel.
As many of our San Francisco families do not own cars, your donation to this project will enable our class to focus on the activities that matter without the burden of lugging all of our equipment on public transportation, as we have necessarily done in years past. We are grateful for the support you offer, and look forward to increasing the learning that occurs as a result of your support.
