My school is in a high-need area of New York. This school benefits students from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8. With budget cuts across the board, classroom teachers are feeling the pinch. We need help!
I have one computer in my classroom. The only other piece of technology is my overhead projector. Each day, I turn on our overhead projector for many lessons. We use it for Science and Social Studies notes, hands-on math problems, and whole group instruction. Yesterday, the third overhead projector of this school year died. The first one simply stopped working. The second one kept burning up light bulbs, and then the fan stopped blowing. The final overhead actually sent sparks flying from the light bulb. Luckily, nobody was hurt!
We are in need of a new overhead projector. One that has been created using current technology. One that hasn't been shoved in someones closet for years. One that doesn't need a warning sign posted on it saying, "Caution! Turn on at your own risk!" One that is safe for my students and I to use.
The students need to be able to take notes, see transparencies from our various text books, and visually see lessons. For example, when teaching a new math concept, I can face the students and write with different colors to show them step by step instructions on how to divide using two-digit by three-digit. Your donation to this project will ensure that my students will continue to learn at the pace they are accustomed to.
