I am hoping to stock my classroom library with different versions of various fairy tales. Students in 1st grade work on a big fairy tale unit at the end of the year. We read 10 different fairy tales, work on fairy tale elements, and complete reading comprehension tasks to go along with them. At the end of the unit, it all leads up to our big fairy tale bowl competition, where our class competes against the grade level to become fairy tale champions!
Allowing students a chance to independently read these physical books will help them take ownership of their learning and create a love for reading!
My goal for this project is to give them even more exposure to fairy tales and independent reading. My students are a group of sweet 1st graders who are intrigued by all the versions of fairy tales but often do not have access to books outside of school. I am hoping to give them more first-hand book experience with this project!
