This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are intelligent, hard workers and young people that are trying to survive. I have been working with them since the beginning of the Pandemic. The one thing I admire about them is their drive, determination, and their hunger to learn.
My Project
My students have many challenges among them:
• Language barrier and communication skills.
Some of them don't have strong reading and writing skills in their own language witch make it difficult to learn a new language.
• Their parents do not have the ability to help them with homework or to learn the skills to be able to survive in this country.
• Low technology skills
Many of them don't have great skills in their native languages and learning English is a difficult challenge for them.
My aim is to be able to teach my students the necessary skills to learn English. I’m committed to be there for them. This means that I have to be able to connect online and use different applications which will give them those skills.
They have been learning online for a whole year and few months, some will go to Hybrid education in about a week. This means that half of the time they will be going to school in person and the other half of the time will be online. The rest of the students will continue learning online.
A new laptop would facilitate online learning and hybrid learning for my students, including mandated state learning.
