Help me give my students a diverse set of books so they can understand their world and the world around them. Books are an avenue to becoming empathetic with others since they provide a glimpse into the world.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students who are in school are able to benefit from shared resources to use as part of our book clubs but die to distance/ blended learning, we are in need of enough resources and books for each student.
My students are eager for knowledge but lack the resources due to their socioeconomic background to provide many of the things that they need.
My Project
These books will be used as either whole class novels, book clubs, or individual choice reads. Some book club units that will be expanded is the African American Experience unit- a look at African Americans through different time periods. Other units we will be expanding with the books are our social justice and what are you fighting for units.
Some books will assist in creating lessons to develop and widen the lens that my students see the world in.
The lens that we view the world should be wide and reading affords people the opportunity to do that.
