My students need healthy snacks to fill their empty stomachs to help their brains focus on learning.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. S's classroom raised $253
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our students come from diverse backgrounds with about half speaking a language other than English and over 90% on the free and reduced lunch program. They are learning how to be positive role models for our school, and hopefully, the community as well. Our school is also a visible learning school that practices learning from our mistakes and growing from them. We model growth mindsets and accept any challenge that comes our way. Too often, we find students who want to give up. School is considered a safe place for them, where they can eat, learn, and grow!
My Project
The nutrition bars requested will help provide a healthy snack for students who come too late for breakfast or for those who get hungry during our longer instructional periods. Our 6th graders have the last lunch at 12:50pm!
It is difficult for students to focus on their learning when their stomach is empty.
In fact, our current referral data shows a trend with each grade level having increased behavior referral numbers before lunch.
According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, a child's physiological needs (food, warmth, rest) is necessary before anything else. Please consider donating to their basic needs to ultimately support their learning.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
