Our NC STEM accredited school serves over 700 wonderful scientists from PK-5. We have a passion for science and STEM and would like to provide the equipment needed for our scientists to learn and grow.
Our desire to help students flourish in the 21st Century Skills of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication are supported by our consistent dedication to STEM education.
I have had the opportunity to use augmented reality in the form of Merge Cubes and Osmos and have found great success in teaching about topics such as the solar system and Earth's forming which we could not typically hold in our hands but can with the use of augmented reality. Now, I want to increase student opportunities and introduce virtual reality. This highly engaging activity will appeal to all student K-5.
My Project
Last year, I was introduced to Ozobot robots by a colleague. I had the opportunity to borrow a few and found that their presence in my classroom produced immeasurable excitement and engagement. So what makes Ozobots so outrageously amazing? These robots have a plethora of functions from being coded on student iPad! They can also read color which means my students can have an unplugged coding experience where they draw paths and have the robots follow!
I have had outrageous success having students code life cycle loops, planetary orbits, and water cycles using borrowed Ozobots; can you imagine the success with 5 of our own!?
My students still ask about the Ozobots a whole year after we had the opportunity to borrow some, and as an educator, my desire to integrate coding in our practice has continued to grow. Please consider supporting our dream and my students increase skill set!
