Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low income/high poverty area. Some have little support at home, so I am doing my best to educate them. I have a lot of English Language Learners. Some of them speak Spanish, Russian, or Farsi. I work at a Title I school and have 28 students in my classroom. My students are hard workers and enjoy being at school. For some, it is a struggle to learn, so I am trying different teaching strategies to help them succeed.
My Project
First graders can get easily distracted throughout the day. Whether it is a transition from one activity to another or just trying to find their pencil to begin their assignment. These materials will get them ready to start and learn. They are always losing or dropping their pencils, taking forever to get a new one, and then disturbing their groups while they do this. By having these materials they will have their pencils on their trays and will be ready to go. The name tags will be easy to keep on their desk and not have to tape down. They will be easy to put up and for a guest teacher to see.
