Outdoor Recess Helps Kids Focus During Class!

Help me give my students a variety of activities to select from during outdoor recess time so they can come inside prepared to learn.

My Project

Our students LOVE to play outside. Even middle schoolers enjoy the freedom during lunch/recess to run and play with their friends. We have a basketball pole that is currently missing a backboard and net. We have a GIANT field but we are lacking in a variety of equipment that appeals to all ages and abilities. I have selected a variety of equipment with all the students in mind. We are a mountain community and our students love to be outdoors all year long so we need bright-colored items that they can even find in the snow. I have also ordered three sets of everything so that the 6th grade, the 7th grade, and the 8th grade can each have a set. Sometimes they don't play similarly with the equipment, and some of our 6th graders are much smaller than the 8th graders, so the different colored equipment bags will help each grade level to take ownership of their set of equipment during each grade level's unique recess time. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to clear their minds and create room to focus and to learn - a little food, a little fresh air, and a little movement make for a healthy child ready to learn.
