Outdoor Musical Exploration

My students need outdoor musical instruments to install a sound garden to explore and create with during outside play.

My Students

I teach at a magnet school focusing on the sciences as well as the arts. The students here are very interested in science and love to ask questions and design experiments to gather deeper understanding. Many of my students come from underprivileged homes because our school is a Title I school. They are very interested in gardening, engineering and design, and keeping the school environmentally friendly.

Combining our schools themes of art and sciences with projects that focus on engineering and design, is crucial for the vision and mission of our school.

My Project

At our arts and science magnet school, students have many opportunities to integrate the arts and sciences all day. My Students will benefit from the plastic buckets, mallets, Suzuki musical instruments, Key of G steel drums and accessories by allowing them to find their voice. They have been planning and sketching their dream outdoor sound garden for many months and these supplies would give them the ability to create that sound garden. Our students love making music and could create even more with this lovely addition to our campus.

Music and the arts integration help build more well rounded and intelligent students.

Rhythm, rhyme, and melody help with memorization and our students love putting their learning to music. They frequently sing songs about weathering and erosion and the planets of the solar system to memorize important facts. This project will help them create those songs themselves.
