My Project
It is Springtime in New York City and I would like to expand the boundaries of our classroom by taking my students outdoors for more learning experiences when the weather is sunny and warm. My pre-kindergarten students have a natural wonder of the world around them. They are open and inquisitive about bugs and flowers and bees and worms. I would like to encourage their curiosity with more outdoor learning experiences. We will plant the tomato, cucumber, swiss chard, and basil seeds in garden soil. Witnessing the new growth of plants in the Springtime will be a wonderful experience for my students. They will be able to bring some of these plants home to share with their families.
The Apple iPad mini with Wi-Fi is small and portable and will give us the ability to document our outside learning.
My students will be able to use it to take images of findings, record and track data, do immediate searches on questions that pop up, as well as facilitating language translations. These investigative experiences will help my students develop critical thinking skills, solve problems creatively, and collaborate strategically. This iPad can help my students become more involved in their learning as they are introduced to opportunities that will help them gain more skills to be successful.
In addition to this iPad, I would like to help my students celebrate a successful year of learning in pre-K with little bags filled with small treats.
