Help me give my students an opportunity to explore the natural world through hands-on learning and interaction using magnifying glasses, measuring tapes, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, and clipboards. These are the tools for an outdoor classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My third grade students need your help! They are virtual learners of diverse backgrounds both ethnically and socio-economically. They do not have regular access to science, art, and other school supplies.
Your support would allow my third grade scientists to explore nature by giving them access to materials such as magnifying glasses, notebooks, measuring tapes, and clipboards (all the makings for an outdoor classroom).
The tools provided will encourage environmental awareness, love of nature (conservation), scientific/critical thinking, and creative problem solving along with contributing to their Social Emotional well-being. Many studies have concluded that being outside helps to combat Nature-Deficit Disorder (Child Mind Institute, Danielle Cohen 2022). Thank you for your consideration!
