My Students

My 1st grade students are diverse, multi-lingual, multi-cultural sponges of new knowledge. They are inquisitive and respectful. They are curious and kind.

They absolutely deserve a classroom they can be proud of and materials that are quality and reliable.

As the area is diverse, it is also a low socio-economic area where breakfast and lunch are provided daily for every student. The majority of my students are English Language Learners, meaning English is not their first language nor spoken at home.

My Project

It is a California requirement that all students starting in grade 1 receive 200 minutes per week of structured PE time. We do not have a dedicated PE coach in our elementary school, so classroom teachers are tasked with planning activities and taking items from our one "ball room". Sometimes many classes at once are outside using various materials- all type of balls, soccer nets, hula hoops, etc. I would like to introduce some new, fun materials to start a circuit of activities during PE (jai alai, golf, soccer, activity mats, etc.)! It would make planning PE easier, but it will also provide a varied approach and try new skills.
