My Students
Do you remember what it was like to have your very own new pencil and crayons on the first day of school?
About 25 five year old kindergarten students will enter my classroom in August.
They will be excited and eager to learn. Some will have previous school experience but about half will not. They come from high poverty homes in a rural community. I want to provide them with the best beginning.
My Project
The students will use these materials daily. I am requesting "large" crayons and pencils for my kindergarten students. At this young age their fine motor skills are still developing and I believe it is important for children to learn to write and color with the large crayons and pencils. Having their personal box of crayons will also teach them responsibility and ownership.
Since my school is in a high poverty community many of my students will come to school with no supplies.
I want to give them the best beginning I can and with your help they will experience a WONDERFUL beginning. Nothing could be finer, than to have new crayons in South Carolina.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
