My Students
My students inspire me every day I show up to school. As they enter my room to prepare for the period ahead, there is a buzz among the students. It's a buzz I love to hear; it's a buzz that keeps me going.
My kids work for me the minute the bell rings, until the end of the period.
Sometimes when that perfect day comes, we even go into the passing period. That is when I know they are learning. It is because of those moments that I want to provide them with materials that will push them to succeed.
My Project
My students and I use the smartboard every single day in class. Even though it's a first generation board with a lot of kinks, it still serves its purpose. It has become an integral part of my lessons, bringing technology in its simplest form into my classroom.
We use it for grammar, for notes, for graphic organizers, for presentations, for documentaries, and for game reviews.
But with technology comes problems. My current cart is ten years old and is breaking apart. I now have trouble calibrating the projector to my board since I can't maintain the frame. In addition, my VGA cord has begun to splinter, leaving me with the task of reconnecting my projector to my laptop multiple times during a class period - which loses the momentum of the lesson.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
