This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My art students are curious little explorers from a vibrant neighborhood. We're just a stone's throw from Dallas's Bishop Arts District, the perfect setting for a great art program. They're flexing their wings and working to build skills that will make them lifelong, independent learners, creative thinkers, and confident problem solvers. The Art Room is a wonderful place to develop those skills as well as perseverance and self-control. They have the ambition and curiosity, now they just need the tools for the journey.
My Project
We currently have one rack that holds about 24 paintings to serve our BIG school. Our Art Room welcomes over 600 students every single week, so you can see just how limited we are! A great big drying rack will give us unlimited possibilities to create.
We LOVE to paint, but without space to dry artworks, we are severely limited in how many classes get to paint.
With as many as 168 artists creating every day, we need a really BIG drying rack to accommodate all of our artistic endeavors. Extra drying space means more opportunities for exploration and mastery.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
