This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a small public elementary school in the Bronx, NY. Our school is committed to providing all students with a well-rounded curriculum that engages students in hands-on, project-based learning as well as developing social skills and building character.
50% of our student population are from low-income families.
We work hard to ensure that economics doesn't get in the way of a quality education. Our students are eager to learn. They need a hand up not a hand out.
My Project
The beginning of the school year is filled with anticipation and excitement. It is important that when students enter their new 5th-grade classroom that they feel safe and welcomed. Having a new carpet, pillows, and comfy chairs will help students get the message that they are important, valued and accepted in this classroom community.
Creating a positive learning environment is the first step to making a huge impact on student learning.
Your environment shapes how you feel and how you feel is directly connected to your motivation, effort, and productivity. My goal is to create a positive place of learning.
More than half of students from low‑income households
