This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a title one school district in San Antonio,TX. My class tour is a Headstart/PPCD inclusion setting, meaning I teach 3-4 year olds half of my students are General education students and the other half of my students have Special needs. The reason of this setting is so that my general education students can be peer role models and show good communication, social skills, and academic standards for my students with special needs. As my students with special needs make gains in my classroom, so they can learn along side with their typically developing peers. My classroom is about building skills while included with peers of their age. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My Project
The carpet and floor pillow will make an inviting and relaxing space for my classroom library. Making this fun relaxing and inviting library in my classroom will get my students to go in the library center and explore books and print rich materials.
When my students are in the center exploring books and other print rich materials they will be able to build love for books.
My students can "read" books on their own or have a teacher read a book to them. With a inviting carpet and pillows my students will be able to relax and read a book.
