This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a high poverty neighborhood where 99% of them receive free lunch. All my students love coming to school! In school, they are provided with a safe, structured learning environment.
My students work to their fullest potential.
They learn by listening intently, asking questions, trying their hardest on classwork and projects. They never give up. My students understand they are all different and enjoy helping each other. They deserve everything needed to give them a proper education.
My Project
My students love learning on the carpet, but sadly our carpet is too small to accommodate everyone. Many students stay in their seats during carpet instruction.
A new carpet would give every student the opportunity to participate in our classroom activities.
My students learn reading, writing, math, social studies and science on the carpet. Each day, students participate in lessons, interactive read alouds, partner talks and they practice new skills with their whiteboards.
Our carpet is not just used for whole group instruction. During the reading block students participate in buddy reading/writing, word sorts, projects, skill builders and they also watch videos to reinforce new skills. In math they work together to build fact fluency. We have many fluency building games that students participate in.
In order to succeed in school kids need to have a comfortable place to learn. A new carpet would make learning enjoyable. Some kids enjoy stretching out and reading a good book on a carpet. Please support my children.
