Our Art Room Needs Outfitting!

My students need a place to sit for instruction and we need an electric pencil sharpener for our classroom. During rug time, we discuss our day, current events, and current projects.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my main goal is to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

They like to move, they love to make art and love lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My students are me 20 years ago. They are growing and learning in the same small, tight knit, school community that inspired me to be a teacher. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. I want to be the best for them!

My Project

Having a new rug for our art room would allow me to have a space for everyone to sit when they enter my class. Our current rug doesn't seat all students in some of the larger classes and some students end up sitting on the floor. I want my classroom to be a bright and exciting place for my students and a new rug would help!

My students get by with so little, but I want them to have so much!

We are also in dire need of an electric pencil sharpener for our classroom! We have been borrowing other teachers' sharpeners throughout the year, but it would be great to have our own.
