Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am an inner city second grade teacher in Illinois. It is a joy working with my students, however many come from a low economic status households.

When discussing world events, I found that many of my students were not aware of current topics in the world.

To ensure I can provide them an opportunity to an effective and well informed education that makes them aware of what is happening around them, I need assistance with resources. I am requesting for my students a subscription to Weekly Reader Magazine. This magazine will not only make students aware of current events in a style they can find interesting, but it will motivate the students to read.

Each student will have the magazine and will utilize the magazine to reinforce skills in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. My students will really appreciate and benefit from the magazines. They will have a new love for reading non-fiction and have a new love and respect for our world. The students are our future. By helping the students learn about our world through the magazines, you are helping them have a desire to be leaders of our world.
