My Students
We are a very small public school Library, serving about 375 students. We serve an 85% poverty group of students, grades Pre-K thru 6. Many of our students are struggling readers. I believe every child can learn, and I try to provide things in the library that can support that idea. It all adds up!
I am always working to provide a caring and safe environment.
I work very hard to make library time fun and interesting! We are a Title I school, and many of our students have unstable family lives. Many of these children never go to a public library, for all kinds of reasons. Our ELL population many times may not know what a book is! I love to see our students get excited about reading!!!
My Project
We need a book cart/truck for displaying books that are hard for our youngest readers to find. Some of our collection is hard for students to locate- like fairy tales. In our tiny library, with no extra space for shelving or bookcases, a small rolling book cart is the answer! I can put signs on it, and rotate the books for easy access. This is also great for kids with various disabilities who aren't able to use step stools. We also have out small P-K kids who are short! This will also support staff looking for that special book in limited time.
Please help my students easily find Library books with our new cart!
The book cart will offer flexibility and support our students book search. Additionally- it rolls! That's a great feature in a tiny library! Thank you for helping this get funding!
