My students live in a rural Texas town. We are a low socio-economic school. English is a second language for many of the students in my class. Many of these students have limited resources at home and very few life experiences. Many have not traveled outside of our little town.
These 22 energetic second graders come to school everyday so eager to learn!
They love to read, use technology, problem solve and make friends. And I love giving them the best educational experiences, materials and resources that I possibly can.
My Project
My students are requesting iPods to take advantage of physical fitness Apps, GoNoodle videos, and YouTube sites to listen and read fitness & health books. They come to me from 1st grade LOVING to move along with brain breaks and listen to books! When discussing how they could best benefit from the Target campaign, my students kept coming back to utilizing Apps so they could watch, read, listen to and follow along with exercises, books and activities. They love jumping, counting, surfing, dancing, bouncing up and down, etc. Accessing these Apps will be so much easier with new iPods and earbuds. With these iPods, my students will be able to do so many different activities; Yoga, jogging, dancing to the beat of a favorite tune, or even reading about the food pyramid. They will love being active and they will have fun in the process. They won't realize they are exercising, much less doing brain breaks that help speed the learning process.
NO more sitting during brain breaks only active learning!
We will be up and MOVING!
Please be a part of making this project a reality for my students, and give a gift that will continue to help year after year....the gift of active learning and the importance of fitness.
