Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help me give my students an extraordinary library that they can find comfort in while reading. I want them to have places to sit when they read while having a theme and organized area for their books. I want them to pick out books they enjoy most to borrow in their desk cubby to keep safe as their own for the week. I hope for library time can impact their love for reading, learning, and creating good memories.

The theme I have in my classroom is Miffy.

I found many Miffy items that I know they would love as they see her as a reading buddy. I wish to have a tree library organizer to provide an easy way for students to find books as well as take charge of taking care of each book going back in it's place.

The book shelves will be used to organize books by theme, author, and context.

The tree bookcase will be the center of our library in which the children can walk around and discover a new book throughout the book shelf, adding a nature and fun aspect to the experience of reading.

The rug is to give clue of exactly where the library is compared to the rest of our classroom, making it easier to students to understand where our library is and where they may sit while reading books.

The cusions and pillows are to add the feeling of comfort, love, and care to the reading area, adding more passion to the act which can build a reading character within children, as they find a safe space at our library. This also goes for our Miffy organizers and continuing the theme of our classroom.

I am looking forward to creating a special library for our children of the future!
