My Project
We have a very diverse student population at our school. They all get along very well, which is one thing I love about our school. We have students from many different countries, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.
Our school has about fifteen hundred students; most qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.
About twenty-five percent of our students are also English as a Second Language students. I am the school librarian at my high school, and we need more money to buy new books.
This is the 6th year in which the library was given no budget. Our students crave new books to read. We currently rely on the occasional donation from the community for new books. These donations are lovely, but they are only a trickle of new readers here and there. Our library needs new books to create excitement for reading in our school. It is unfortunate when a student asks for a particular book, and I must tell them that our library does not have it.
