My Students

Do you want to share with me the JOY of being the best part of my students' day?

My students attend a therapeutic day program for students with special needs.

My students come from a low income city located in the state of CT. My students come to school with a smile on their face everyday because for most of them we are the best part of their day. My students deserve a great school store to spend their points as part of our token economy.

My Project

The items in our school store are very limited, especially for the 2016-2017 school year due to decreased funding. As a result, our school has very little money to purchase things for the school store and it may have to close.

Our students come to school each day with a smile on their face eager to learn and earn their points for the school store, despite the many challenges they face regarding home life.

With the donation we will be able to fill the school store with items that motivate our students, items that they will be eager to buy. This in turn will encourage our students to perform better academically and behaviorally so more time is spent on task and learning.

Our students deserve to be able to use the points they earned from the school wide token economy to purchase toys and games that they want. Junior footballs, street basketballs and toy airplanes are some of the sports equipment our students can use again and again to keep them active at home. Many of our students enjoy hands on science projects so the interlocking building set, wild animals and science nature series are some activities they can share with family at home. In addition some of our younger students just like to play! So the lego sets and action figures are a great positive reinforcement for them. While teachers and paraprofessionals offer donations, it is not enough. Our students deserve a store filled with games and toys, to support our point system/token economy. Our students should have the opportunity to be rewarded with something tangible for good behavior and excellent academics!!
