This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our preschool special education classroom is a calm and safe space for my students to learn, play, and decompress. Our classroom caters to their physical, visual, and social emotional needs by being a clutter-less, soft color-toned, and mellow room where they can interact with their peers, teachers, and special education service providers.
The alphabet & number playdough mats and the squish & squeeze sensory beads will be a great addition to our Sensory Center where my kiddos enjoy feeling and creating things with their hands.
I would like to add a Discovery Center to the classroom so that my kids can explore textures, classify/measure/compare, and observe, so starting off with the Out of This World Fidget Board and My First Marble Run toys would be great. Our Library Area is very popular since they have a handful of board books to choose from, a bean bag, and a canopy. I would like to add the Weighted Washable Calming Book for a specific student who loves to look at books and who would surely enjoy the colors, texture, and weight of the book. The Giant Soft Blocks would be a fun addition to our Blocks Center which currently consists of only small soft table toy blocks. The kids love to experiment with how the blocks fit together, stability, and weight- adding bigger blocks would be so much more fun for them. The My Styling Kit and Doctor’s Office Kit would be added to our Dramatic Play area where my kiddos can use their imaginations and pretend-play with each other.
The Giant Classroom Timer would help with smoother transitions during small group rotations and the construction paper is for everyday use since we do a lot of crafts based on stories, science topics, and holidays.
