My Students
Having the latest in technology in the classroom is great for my students. A SMART Board is very engaging and motivating for all who use it. The only problem is that it needs a working computer in order to work, and, sadly, the computer that we had for it is broken.
I work with an amazing group of gifted and talented fifth grade students.
My boys and girls are both bright and motivated. They are also technology natives. There is no learning curve for them when it comes to using technology in the classroom because they were born into a world of interactive educational technology.
My Project
My students need a Lenovo desktop computer to run our SMART Board. I returned to a classroom this year after eight years as the school's library/media specialist. Having a strong background in media and research, I jumped right into using our interactive whiteboard. Unfortunately, the classroom I inherited had a non-working desktop PC connected to the SMART Board. In order to use this wonderful resource, I need to replace the computer ASAP.
Using the computer on the SMART Board will allow my students to interactively engage in all subject areas, but especially in math. Our math program has multiple interactive components, such as quizzes, video,s and enrichment activities that will allow the students to get immediate feedback of their progress. We also use the SMART Board to watch videos to enhance our Literacy and Social Studies units.
A working desktop computer in our classroom will enable so many possibilities for our learning community, allowing us to use the great interactive technology that a SMART Board brings.
