This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As you all may or may not know, I am a finally a teacher! I am going to teach 1st grade at an elementary school which is located in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. We've all heard stories and know the reputation that goes with neighborhood.

My dream for my classroom is to create a safe haven for my kids.

I want to make sure that everyone of my kids will have the supplies that they will need to get through the school day.

My Project

One thing I learned in student teaching is that pencils are like gold in a classroom, you can never have enough. Also if you want to use something again, laminate it!! I have added some basic classroom supplies to my list. Your generous donation will allow me to spend money on other things for my classroom like: curtains, beanbag chairs, and other decorations.

My students will come into school everyday knowing that they will be able to participate with every project in our class.

The magnetic letters will be used during one of our Daily 5 centers, they will have books to listen to on tape, and stamps to help them with letter and word recognition. By laminating the activity sheets, the students will be able to them throughout the entire school year.

I want my classroom to be a place that my kids are excited to come to everyday! I never want a child to feel uncomfortable because they don't have a pencil to use! When they are properly prepared, they will be eager to learn!
