My Students

Imagine working in an office that has no AC and consistent indoor temperatures in the 90s! How productive would YOU be? While we love to learn actively in the classroom, my students haven't had the stamina or focus to engage in learning due to the extreme heat and humidity. PLEASE HELP!

My school is the OLDEST school building in the city which means that the majority of classrooms don't have the luxury of air conditioning in the warmer months.

We often find ourselves trying to share the limited fans we have. Although we buy them ourselves, they often need replacing from year to year. Right now our classroom is down to just two fans. Putting in the bracket for a proper AC system to cool the room entirely would cost $1500 by itself, so I am looking into other options to keep my students healthy and alert in the classroom ALL year long! My diverse students in my class come from all backgrounds and countries, and represent 8 languages, many as English Language Learners! No matter their situation, they have an eagerness in them to learn and grow, which makes me strive even more to bring them the beneficial resources and classroom environment they deserve!

My Project

My students need a Honeywell portable AC unit to keep their bodies cool and their minds alert when our classroom reaches unhealthy indoor temperatures like today. We also would like Foam tape to seal out the heat. By funding this portable air conditioning unit, my students will be able to think and learn much more comfortably in the classroom! Although my students have a desire to learn and always come into class excitedly asking what we will be doing, their stamina doesn't last too long when temperatures hit 80 degrees and above. Students start looking dazed and begin crouching over in their seats. Their papers and books transform into their personal fans. Yesterday I had a student throw up in the middle of the day due to the heat and another student had a panic attack. Your materials will provide a healthy environment for my students in ALL weather conditions.

Your donations will provide our 3rd grade classroom with a healthy and beneficial learning environment.With a portable AC unit, my students will feel cooler, allowing them to focus and stay energized on our full platter of learning!

It will allow us to have more productive learning in our classroom and help students stay healthy. That means we will have less heat related health problems and more solved math problems!
