My Project
The Heart of Our Project: Our students represent the vibrant diversity of our urban-rural community, each bringing their unique perspectives and experiences to our classroom. While standardized measurements may show them struggling with adequate yearly progress, these numbers don't capture the remarkable spirit and potential I see in them every day. Their eyes light up with curiosity during hands-on activities, and their creativity knows no bounds when given the opportunity to explore and express themselves. The Living Body Project speaks directly to their strengths – their natural inclination toward artistic expression, their love of movement and active learning, and their eagerness to share what they know with others. Many of our students come from families where English is a second language or where access to medical information may be limited, making this project even more meaningful. By creating their own Mr. Goodbody suits and becoming health educators, they'll not only build confidence in their academic abilities but also serve as knowledge bridges to their families and community. I've seen how their enthusiasm soars when learning becomes tangible and relevant to their lives, and I know this project will transform their understanding of human anatomy from abstract concepts into concrete, personal knowledge. For students who may not always see themselves represented in traditional STEM fields, this project offers an opportunity to envision themselves as future healthcare professionals, scientists, or educators.
