My Students
The students at my school generally come from low economic backgrounds. Most students crave that extra support from other adults around the school. Also, these students need some extra guidance academically, behaviorally, and/or socially.
As a special education teacher, I have the opportunity to work with students in a smaller group setting to give my students that extra support they need academically, behaviorally, and/or socially.
I am in the fortunate situation to be able to meet each of my student's individual needs. I am also fortunate to be able to help each of my students to experience that feeling of accomplishment that every child wants to achieve.
My Project
Good-bye small group tables and hello social distant work stations! With this project, each student will get their own portable work station to work from when we go to small group stations, so they can still be socially distant while working in their small group. Students will also get their own magnetic marker, dry eraser, earbuds, whiteboard magnets (to hold their papers in place while using their portable work station), and personal bin to go with their work station. This will help keep them organize without sharing materials when they go to their different stations.
Even though our classrooms may look different this year, this should not keep our students from reaching their full potential.
With this project, students will also have their own personal spinning wheel to use as our feelings spinner in our social skills class. Students will go up to the "feelings" spinner, spin their number, and depending on the number they land on depends on the feeling sentence starter they will share with the class. We had great success doing this on the computer last school year and would like to create it more interactive with the class and win prizes along the way.
