My students need various materials to learn math concepts such as time, measurement, probability, sorting, patterns, using calculator, shapes, counting, and number identification.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with wonderful, inquisitive Pre-K children. They love to learn new concepts each day. The children come in on many levels of understanding. Some children have a great knowledge of math concepts and some are just beginning to learn about counting and numbers. The children need new math materials at various levels to succeed and grow from the level they are on.
Since Pre-K is the first school experience for most children, the children come in knowing many different things about math. For some this can be a lot and for others, a little. There is a wide range of knowledge and our class needs materials to serve to each child's need. Some children are ready for kindergarten or 1st grade math learning while others are just learning to count. Our class needs a variety of fun, hands-on math materials at different levels so all of the wonderful children can learn at whatever level they are at.
Our class needs math games at various levels, learning clocks, timers, 3D shapes, books to connect literature to math concepts, measurement tools, a giant calculator, recognizing number and counting materials, sorting and patterning activities. These materials will allow the children to learn math at their own level while having fun.
