Our Literature Collection

My Project

This year I am teaching an English IV curriculum that does not include any literature. Since this class is designed specifically to help bridge students into college, I believe that they should be given healthy exposure to a variety of literature. This collection of novels and graphic novels will offer students the chance to explore a variety of genres and help them discover the magic of reading. These books have been selected with my students in mind - I have included many "mirrors" as I feel this will help them discover the power of reading. I have also included a few of my favorite classics so that there is plenty of diversity among the titles.

My goal is to build a classroom library that offers students an array of titles that they can read independently.

I want to help them develop a love of reading by offering them a choice when it comes to the readings they will do in class. Many of my students have also expressed disappointment at the lack of novels in the curriculum, and this collection is a great way to make up for the lack of literature during their senior year.
