This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

YV High School is in Concord, California, in a neighborhood alive with diversity.

Our students LOVE our library--It is their sanctuary, and they come in every free chance they get!

A majority of our students are Spanish speaking, and I try to provide as many bilingual books as I can, as well as plenty of high quality materials in English. They love new novels, narrative non-fiction, and exploring digital resources. A library is a gift that all students deserve!

My Project

Do you know what our library's dream gift is? A smart projector, which will allow our librarian to give 21st century lessons that the whole class can see! The smaller gift is a set of brightly colored dry erase markers for our library sandwich board. We love making special announcements and messages that keep students coming back for more! While there aren't many items that we need for this project, they will transform our library and its reach.

This is a project in which just a couple of things will make a HUGE impact!

For many of our students, the school library is the only library they will ever visit--I want those visits to be meaningful and more than just a hangout. I want them to be able to access educational technology and want to come back again and again. Let's make Ygnacio Valley High School Library ROCK!
