My Students
There are schools in our city, and surrounding counties, which have everything they want. Every student has access to a working laptop or an iPad. There are SmartBoards and Promethean tables. There are schools on the other end of the spectrum that don’t have the means on their own, but thanks to Title I, there is still money out there to get the students access to technology. My school is in the middle.
My class, much like our city, is a diverse and creative community from all walks of life.
I am proud to be a teacher at a school that resembles the one I attended as a child, with students who can learn from one another’s cultural and socio-economic differences, and family make-up. My school embraces and welcomes all families, making it a true neighborhood school. Our parents give of themselves, our teachers and administration are good people, and our students are our passion.
My Project
When you go online today, there are a multitude of fantastic resources for kids. Multiple sites exist where students can improve their math facts, do online science experiments, and even read leveled text on current events. Teacher's can really expand the classroom outside the physical space with these excellent resources.
My students don't have access to these great online resources.
In many schools, even in our district, there are computers or tablets in every classroom. Our school just isn't that fortunate. I want to provide my students that access.
With these tablets we will be able to set up a classroom center where students can work independently to improve their Math facts. I plan on leading classroom games where students can enter their answers on a device. My hope is to have students create multimedia presentations about Literature and History. Please help us expand our learning!
