Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual and learning disabilities, speech impairment, emotional disturbance, and autism spectrum disorder. They struggle processing information and teaching them using different modalities is extremely important to make sure I reach all of my students.
My students are first and second graders with both emotional and academic delays.
Most of my students are performing 1 to 2 grades below grade level, but are still expected to reach grade level common core standards as all other general education students. They are students that love learning but realize they are facing a challenge. Most of my students benefit from tactile and visual learning.
My Project
These electronic tables will be used on a daily basis on our classroom. In reading, each child will have books available at their "just right" level as well as books above their level. Since my students have special needs, the tablet will provide audio option for their books on an independent level. In writing, the tables will allow students to access facts and information about what they are writing. During center time the students will be able to use different apps to reinforce skill they need help on.
There are so many amazing websites and apps that we will be able to use our tablets on a daily basis in every subject!
Having tablets to access information, educational videos, books, and learning games will provide inspiration and motivation on a daily basis. It will provide a different modality for their learning environment.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
