Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Teaching students to see the world through the eyes of another person, also known as developing empathy, can be a transformative experience. Through the use of Storytelling, Role-playing, Games, Projects, Discussions and Counseling; I will aim at assisting my students in seeing the world though the eyes of another person.
I will provide my students with necessary skills and real-life experiences so they work towards alleviating suffering in others, this will involve fostering a sense of empathy, compassion, and a desire to take action.
Kindness initiatives, creating opportunities to assist in the needs of their peers, promote a culture of empathy with in their teams and participate in counseling practices through peer counseling lessons.
Measuring success in students' understanding of compassion requires both qualitative and quantitative assessment methods that evaluate their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Oral feedback from teachers, parents and administrators will provide a gauge on the results of compassion education among teams and individual student across the campus. Creating a scale that will assess students' attitudes towards empathy, kindness and helping others will also determine the understanding of compassion by our target students.
