Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a fourth grade Dual Language teacher in a Title 1 school. My upcoming group of students are enthusiastic about reading meaningful and engaging literature. My class needs new high interest books (Wonder, Esperanza Rising and the Tale of Despereaux) for a class book club.
Book clubs are a great way to build community and develop a love for reading.
There are so many benefits to a student book club. Last year I began my book clubs and I saw so much growth in their reading level, fluency and comprehension skills. It also created new friendships in the classroom. The club helped improve their communication skills and it allowed students to use new vocabulary. These great books will keep them engaged all year!
