Help me give my students reading skills and strategies through the use of the Units of Study for Teaching Reading that provides explicit instruction that will equip students for their journey through reading.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students from this school come from around the local area. We are located by the Port of LA. I seek to spark the love of learning to the students in our learning community.
I am a first-grade teacher to a wonderful, diverse group of students who enjoy building on their knowledge throughout the year using hands-on activities and collaborating with their classmates.
Throughout our 1st- grade learning adventure, students grow in confidence and creativity.
As a teacher, I want to provide students with a memorable learning experience that they will cherish and encourage them to seek more learning experiences.
My Project
The wonderful Units of Study for Reading will give me the needed tools to provide engaging, explicit instruction that will teach the students the essential reading skills and strategies to develop their understanding of reading. Through the use of these units, they will grow as readers.
Reading is the path to knowledge.
As they progress in reading ability and independence, they will be able to increase their knowledge about the different cultures and countries around them. They will travel through the different genres of literature and the skills and strategies they learned through the taught lessons to conquer tricky text. They will strive and grow!
