My Students
Our classroom is special because it is mostly student led. My students have mild and moderate cognitive disabilities but that does not stop them being able to effectively collaborate with each other and myself for us to have a exceptionally productive classroom. We are in an undeserved area school on the West Side of Chicago.
I love coming to work everyday knowing that this is not just "my classroom" it is truly "our classroom".
My students' needs drive all of my instruction and lessons. My students have a range of ability levels with all academic and social skills. My goal is to help them be successful and productive adults. We are even researching special transitional high school and college programs to help with that goal!
My Project
I am requesting high quality headphones for my students to interact with the technology in the classroom. My students are able to access classroom computers and tablets for independent projects.
My students learn best when they are able to interact with curriculum that provides a multi-sensory approach to learning.
We will use the interactive white boards and dry erase markers during math and reading instruction to provided modeled examples for content and then have students write it on their own whiteboard. We will use the Math and Reading games and materials during small group instruction. These games not only help with instruction but also provide support around socials skills within the classroom.
