My Students

I am new to teaching the gifted and talented population in the area. I am always looking to give my students new and innovative ways to learn. These students are looking for ways to delve deeper into their own learning and I am here to find ways to help them be successful at it. Using technology is a key component to helping these students navigate their own learning.

The students in my classroom work hard to be cooperative learners.

I have worked hard to make sure that I have researched projects and opportunities to help these students continue to stretch their own learning through the use of technology and projects. I encourage students to work together and to help each other learn as much as possible.

I try to find ways to help all of my students engage in their own learning and on a level that will be most beneficial to them. It can be through group work, drama, tracking their own progress and movement, or computer-based learning activities. This can be a challenge, but it is so rewarding when it works.

My Project

I am hoping to find funding for new headphones and a digital scanner in my classroom. As the year has gone on, the headphones that we had been using started to die off one by one, until, they were no longer able to be used.

Headphones keep students learning at their own pace in a digital world where they can look up information, do assignments and participate in advanced learning opportunities.

I handed out earbuds to help the students continue to learn with the Chromebooks that we are using as the headphones started dying. However, earbuds do not last and so I have been replacing these quite often. The students also find that these are not very comfortable.

I am also hoping to get a book scanner to help me convert lessons digitally to be used on Canvas and Kami. This helps to keep the students from losing their work, and helps me to also to keep track of assignments. Both of these things; the headphones and the digital scanner, helps us to meet our technology goals.
