My students need to be prepared for the twenty-first century in careers that have not been invented yet and these Chromebooks will help them to communicate, collaborate and create.
My students are mixed ability and amazing. They come from varying backgrounds but come together as a lively bunch of curious learners. The girls are outnumbered fifteen to eight, but they hold their own. I have two students who have recently immigrated (one as a refugee and the other because Hurricane Maria destroyed his home) and are learning English for the first time. I have students with autism, learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. They are my Blue Suede Paws and are our fantastic future.
My Project
My students live in a digital world but don't have a digital classroom. I want to open them up to collaboration through online brainstorming and mindmapping via systems like bubbl.us and Edmodo. I want them to communicate through digital presentations via systems like Prezi, Animoto and Powtoon. I want them to create via coding and performance tasks through systems like Kahn Academy, DefinedSTEM and Scratch. My school will not be a digital school for three years. These Chromebooks will engage my students and prepare them for their future through fully integrated STEAM. Through technology, I can differentiate my classroom to meet my students' learning needs. I know what they are capable of and want to witness it!
