My Students
Our scholars are part of a diverse community of learners. They have the courage to learn about themselves and face challenges. The concern to be aware of fellow community members. The curiosity to take responsibility for their own learning. Integrity to act with conscience.
Our students believe each of us is gifted with a unique potential, a destiny to be employed in furtherance of a better world.
We work hard academically, but our focus is on developing the entire person. Our school takes a holistic approach to learning that involves the family and the greater community in developing students to be the best version of themselves.
My Project
We are a character based team. Our scholars develop values and skills on the field that translate to preparation for life as a whole. Among these values and skills are a sense of humility and the courage to keep going even when things get tough.
The number one predictor of college success is self-control and grit.
Kids cannot be expected to show up on campus and develop those things on the fly. They must be taught and practiced. Maintaining self-control takes the humility to ask for help when needed. Grit requires the courage to keep going when things are difficult.
Our baseball program endeavors to use the game as a breeding ground for the skills our scholars need to be successful in the classroom and in life. We start developing courage, humility, self-control, and grit in middle school.
This batting cage will help us reinforce those values and skills. When the body and mind get tired, and our scholars want to give up, we will get back in the cage and keep honing our skills.
Batting is more than a physical activity. It is a chess match between pitcher and hitter, coach and opponent, defense and offense. Working in the batting cage helps a hitter prepare for the game of baseball as well as the game of life.
