Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are predominantly English Language Learners, who are facing many life challenges. Yet, they persist and defy the odds; I am greatly honored to serve as their teacher. Many of them have recently arrived in the United States, leaving their parents in their native country. Most of my students have to maintain evening jobs or graveyard shifts in order to help pay for rent and personal essentials. In spite of the obstacles, they find time to complete their school assignments.
My classroom library has expanded with wonderful culturally relevant literature, which will nourish their learning and expand their horizon.
My students would benefit from a classroom shelf, which would keep our books organized and easily accessible for them. Having a bookshelf will allow students to savor with their eyes and entice them to choose a book, just like beautiful plating ignites one’s appetite.
On behalf of my classroom readers, I am requesting a bookshelf to display our wonderful new books.
