Help me give my students the tools that they can utilize to identify how they are feeling without having to verbalize everything. Often our specialized students come in triggered from what they see prior to coming to school.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with our students experiencing homelessness, who have an open DCFS case (foster students), and our students involved in the juvenile justice system. Our students are strong and resilient. They come eager to learn and often to escape the shadows of violence, extreme poverty, hunger. and other factors that can impede their learning. Nevertheless, our students come to school giving it their all and willing to make the best while at school. Our school is located in Downtown and more specifically in the Skid Row area. I thank each and every one of you in advance, and I hope that you can make a difference in helping the most vulnerable students we work with. This is a team effort, and I know you will be part of this team. Thank you!
My Project
The items I am requesting are materials that will be used to help our students with their social-emotional well-being. Our students come to school feeling tired, hungry, triggered, sad, mad, and with every emotion you can think of. The materials I requested will help our classroom feel welcoming and will help identify how I can better support the students. I hold attendance challenges that motivate our students. Our school also holds Kindness Week which helps our students participate in activities with each other and the staff. We hope that this promotes kindness, participation, and overall learning from one another. Thank you.
